CHENNAI: A bomb threat call to Amir Mahal, the official residence of the Prince of Arcot, kept the family, including women and children, awake till late in the night on Thursday. A police team, including many senior officials, searched the sprawling premises in Triplicane in the heart of the city for more than three hours from 10.30 pm before declaring it a hoax. The mobile phone number of the caller was later traced but the address given with the SIM connection was found to be fake.
Replica Monogram Handbags Around 10.30 pm on Thursday, the central control room of the city police received an anonymous call saying bombs had been planted in various parts of Amir Mahal and would go off anytime. The police then gathered a force and landed at the Amir Mahal complex.
"Around 50-60 police personnel with senior officials and a bomb detection and disposal squad as well as the sniffer dog Sexy Costumes squad started the search operation around 10.30 pm. They searched the the Mahal campus. Finally they declared the call a hoax. It was the handiwork of some mischief monger," the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, told The Times Of India.
Police said they had a tough time searching the sprawling palace, especially because they had to do it at night. "We rushed to the spot with the bomb squad immediately after we got the alert from the control room. Though we may have had a gut feeling that the call could be a hoax, we could not rule out the risk factor. So we searched every nook and corner of the palace complex," law and order inspector N Rajendran said.
The police then tracked the mobile phone number which was got registered in the caller identification device in the control room. The caller had used a mobile phone and police verified the details. "When we traced the address to Mangalapuram in Chetpet, a team went there to trace the caller. But we later realised that the address produced to get the connection was a fake one.
